Cat's Eye Ring

This was a required piece for my jewelry class in college, and I am happy to say that I received an A on it!

This ring was made specifically with my sister in mind; she previously owned a genuine cat's eye ring that had belonged to my mother, but the stone had cracked. I had been looking everywhere for genuine cat's eye (which was popular in the 70's), but it's extremely hard to find. By some miraculous coincidence, my jewelry instructor had several genuine golden tiger's eye "cat's eye" cabochons she bought from that time! Since the ring was a required piece, I created it with the cat's eye stone in it.

The ring is made of sterling silver and the golden tiger's eye is set in a bezel. The "S's" on the sides are sterling silver wire soldered on with medium solder. The band is V-angled to the center, however, it's not exact (which pisses me off, but hey, I'M not wearing it!).
